CVE-2010-0791
CVSS v2.0
2.1
Low
| Vector | AV:L/AC:L/Au:N/C:N/I:N/A:P |
Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions
ncpfs version 2.2.6
Description
The issue is related to the
ncpmount, ncpumount, and ncplogin programs in ncpfs. These programs do not properly create lock files, allowing local users to cause a denial of service via unspecified vectors. This can trigger the creation of a /etc/mtab~ file that persists after the program exits.Recommendations
For ncpfs version 2.2.6, consider implementing proper lock file creation mechanisms to prevent the denial of service issue. As a temporary workaround, restrict access to the
ncpmount, ncpumount, and ncplogin programs to minimize the risk of exploitation. At the moment, there is no information about a newer version that contains a fix for this issue.Fix
