Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions Irssi versions prior to 0.8.15

Description The issue arises when SSL is used and Irssi fails to verify that the server hostname matches a domain name in the subject's Common Name (CN) field or a Subject Alternative Name field of the X.509 certificate. This allows man-in-the-middle attackers to spoof IRC servers via an arbitrary certificate.

Recommendations For versions prior to 0.8.15, update to version 0.8.15 or later to resolve the issue.
