Description
The issue allows local users to execute arbitrary code via vectors related to glyph outline information and TrueType fonts. An elevation of privilege vulnerability exists due to the way that the operating system provides font-related information to applications. An attacker who successfully exploited this vulnerability could run arbitrary code in kernel mode, then install programs, view, change, or delete data, or create new accounts with full user rights.
Recommendations
For Microsoft Windows 2000 SP4, XP SP2 and SP3, Server 2003 SP2, Vista SP1 and SP2, Server 2008 Gold and SP2, Windows 7, and Server 2008 R2, update to a version that includes the fix for the Win32k TrueType Font Parsing issue.
At the moment, there is no information about a newer version that contains a fix for this vulnerability.
