CVSS v2.0
9.3
High
| Vector | AV:N/AC:M/Au:N/C:C/I:C/A:C |
Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions
Microsoft Internet Explorer versions 6 SP1 through 8
Description
A remote code execution issue exists due to improper initialization or deletion of an object, leading to memory corruption. This could be exploited by an attacker through a specially crafted Web page, potentially allowing remote code execution and granting the attacker the same user rights as the logged-on user. If the user has administrative rights, the attacker could gain complete control of the system, enabling them to install programs, view, change, or delete data, or create new accounts with full user rights.
Recommendations
For Microsoft Internet Explorer versions 6 SP1 through 8, update to a version that is not affected by this issue to prevent potential exploitation. As a temporary workaround, consider restricting access to Web pages from untrusted sources to minimize the risk of exploitation.
