| Vector | AV:L/AC:L/Au:N/C:N/I:N/A:C |
Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions
Linux kernel versions prior to 2.6.35.5
Description
The issue is related to the handling of interaction between mutex possession and llseek operations in the Linux kernel when debugfs is enabled. This can be exploited by local users to cause a denial of service, resulting in a NULL pointer dereference and outage of all function tracing files, via an lseek call on a file descriptor associated with the set ftrace filter file.
Recommendations
For Linux kernel versions prior to 2.6.35.5, update to version 2.6.35.5 or later to resolve the issue.
