CVE-2010-3998
CVSS v2.0
6.9
Medium
| Vector | AV:L/AC:M/Au:N/C:C/I:C/A:C |
Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions
Banshee versions 1.8.0 and earlier
Description
The issue allows local users to gain privileges via a Trojan horse shared library in the current working directory. This is due to the banshee-1 and muinshee scripts in affected versions of Banshee placing a zero-length directory name in the LD LIBRARY PATH.
Recommendations
For versions 1.8.0 and earlier, consider restricting access to the LD LIBRARY PATH environment variable to prevent unauthorized modifications. As a temporary workaround, avoid using the banshee-1 and muinshee scripts until a patch is available.
