CVE-2010-4000

CVSS v2.0

6.9

Medium

VectorAV:L/AC:M/Au:N/C:C/I:C/A:C
Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions GNOME Shell version 2.31.5
Description The issue allows local users to gain privileges via a Trojan horse shared library in the current working directory. This is due to gnome-shell placing a zero-length directory name in the LD LIBRARY PATH.
Recommendations For GNOME Shell version 2.31.5, update to a version where this issue is fixed, as using a zero-length directory name in the LD LIBRARY PATH can lead to privilege escalation. At the moment, there is no information about a newer version that contains a fix for this vulnerability.
