Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions
Linux kernel version 2.6.18 in Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) 5
Description
The issue allows attackers to cause a denial of service, resulting in a deadlock and system hang, by sending UDP traffic to a socket that has a crafted socket filter.
Recommendations
For Linux kernel version 2.6.18 in Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) 5, consider disabling the
udp queue rcv skb function as a temporary workaround until a patch is available. Restrict access to the affected socket filter to minimize the risk of exploitation. At the moment, there is no information about a newer version that contains a fix for this vulnerability.Exploit
