Description
The issue concerns multiple vulnerabilities in the FFmpeg package and its related components in the Debian GNU/Linux operating system. These vulnerabilities can be exploited remotely, potentially leading to a breach of confidentiality, integrity, and availability of protected information. Specifically, a crafted MOV container with improperly ordered tags can cause inconsistent codec types and identifiers, leading to a stack-based buffer overflow and potentially allowing the execution of arbitrary code.
Recommendations
For FFmpeg version 0.5 and earlier, update to a version later than 0.5 to resolve the issue.
For libavdevice52, libavcodec51, libavdevice-dev, libavcodec-dev, ffmpeg-dbg, and ffmpeg-doc, at the moment, there is no information about a newer version that contains a fix for this vulnerability.
