CVE-2010-2226

CVSS v2.0

7.8

High

VectorAV:N/AC:L/Au:N/C:N/I:N/A:C
Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions SUSE Linux Enterprise (affected versions not specified) Linux kernel versions prior to 2.6.35
Description The issue concerns multiple vulnerabilities in the Linux kernel, specifically affecting the xfs swapext function in fs/xfs/xfs dfrag.c. These vulnerabilities can be exploited to disrupt the availability of protected information. Exploitation can be done remotely. The xfs swapext function does not properly check file descriptors passed to the SWAPEXT ioctl, allowing local users with write access to obtain read access by swapping one file into another.
Recommendations For Linux kernel versions prior to 2.6.35, update to version 2.6.35 or later to resolve the issue. For SUSE Linux Enterprise, at the moment, there is no information about a newer version that contains a fix for this vulnerability.
