Description
The issue is related to a memory leak in Cisco IOS when IPS or Zone-Based Firewall is configured, allowing remote attackers to cause a denial of service via vectors that trigger many session creation flows. This can lead to memory consumption or device crash. The problem is due to errors in the implementation of Cisco IOS Intrusion Prevention System and Cisco IOS Zone-Based Firewall components.
Recommendations
For Cisco IOS versions 15.0 through 15.1, update to a version that addresses these vulnerabilities, as Cisco has released software updates that fix the issue.
At the moment, there is no information about a temporary workaround that can mitigate this vulnerability.
