Description The issue allows remote authenticated users to cause a denial of service, resulting in the mysqld daemon crash. This is achieved by using EXPLAIN with crafted "SELECT ... UNION ... ORDER BY (SELECT ... WHERE ...)" statements. The crafted statements trigger a NULL pointer dereference in the Item singlerow subselect::store function.
Recommendations For Oracle MySQL versions 5.0 through 5.0.91, update to version 5.0.92 or later. For Oracle MySQL versions 5.1 through 5.1.48, update to version 5.1.49 or later.
