Description A remote code execution issue exists due to improper parsing of fax cover pages by the Windows Fax Cover Page Editor. This allows remote attackers to execute arbitrary code via a crafted .cov file. An attacker who successfully exploits this issue could gain the same user rights as the logged-on user. Users with fewer user rights on the system could be less impacted than users operating with administrative user rights.

For Microsoft Windows Server 2003 version SP2, update the Fax Cover Page Editor to a non-vulnerable version.
