| Vector | AV:N/AC:M/Au:N/C:C/I:C/A:C |
Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions
Apple QuickTime versions prior to 7.7
Description
The issue is related to multiple stack-based buffer overflows in Apple QuickTime, which can be exploited by remote attackers via a crafted H.264 movie. This can lead to the execution of arbitrary code or cause a denial of service, resulting in an application crash.
Recommendations
For Apple QuickTime versions prior to 7.7, update to version 7.7 or later to resolve the issue. As a temporary workaround, consider avoiding the playback of H.264 movies from untrusted sources until the update is applied. Restrict access to potentially vulnerable modules related to H.264 movie processing to minimize the risk of exploitation.
