CVE-2011-0724
CVSS v2.0
9.3
High
| Vector | AV:N/AC:M/Au:N/C:C/I:C/A:C |
Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions
Edubuntu versions 9.10 through 10.10
Description
The issue is related to the regeneration of iTALC private keys after installation. Due to incorrect regeneration, each installation has the same fixed key, allowing remote attackers to gain privileges.
Recommendations
For Edubuntu versions 9.10 through 10.10, consider regenerating iTALC private keys manually after installation to prevent the use of the same fixed key across installations. As a temporary workaround, restrict access to sensitive areas of the system to minimize the risk of exploitation. At the moment, there is no information about a newer version that contains a fix for this vulnerability.
