CVSS v2.0
9.3
High
| Vector | AV:N/AC:M/Au:N/C:C/I:C/A:C |
Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions
Microsoft Internet Explorer versions 8 through 9
Description
The issue arises from the improper handling of objects in memory by Microsoft Internet Explorer, allowing remote attackers to execute arbitrary code. This can occur when accessing an object that was not properly initialized or has been deleted, potentially corrupting memory in a way that enables an attacker to execute arbitrary code in the context of the logged-on user.
Recommendations
For Microsoft Internet Explorer versions 8 and 9, update to a newer version to mitigate the risk of arbitrary code execution.
As a temporary workaround, consider restricting access to potentially vulnerable web pages until a patch is available.
