Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions
Media Experience Engine (MXE) 5600 devices with Cisco Media Processing Software version prior to 1.2
Description
The issue allows context-dependent attackers to obtain access to the system due to a default root password. This can be exploited via the local console, an SSH session, or a TELNET session.
Recommendations
For Media Experience Engine (MXE) 5600 devices with Cisco Media Processing Software version prior to 1.2, update to version 1.2 or later to resolve the issue. As a temporary workaround, consider changing the default root password to a secure one until a patch is applied. Restrict access to the local console, SSH, and TELNET sessions to minimize the risk of exploitation.
