CVE-2011-1624
CVSS v2.0
7.8
High
| Vector | AV:N/AC:L/Au:N/C:N/I:N/A:C |
Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions
Cisco IOS versions 12.2(58)SE
Description
The issue is related to the improper handling of login banners by Cisco IOS Software, which could allow an authenticated, remote attacker to cause a denial of service (DoS) condition by establishing two SSH2 sessions. This can cause the device to reload. To exploit the issue, an attacker must be able to log in via SSH to a targeted device, restricting the source of exploits to current users of an affected system.
Recommendations
For Cisco IOS version 12.2(58)SE, update to a newer version that contains a fix for this issue, as confirmed by Cisco in their software release notes. As a temporary workaround, consider restricting SSH access to minimize the risk of exploitation.
