| Vector | AV:N/AC:L/Au:N/C:P/I:P/A:P |
Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions
Novell Open Enterprise Server 2 (OES2) version SP3
Description
The issue is related to a stack-based buffer overflow in the GetDriverSettings function in nipplib.dll, part of the iPrint client. This allows remote attackers to execute arbitrary code by providing a long hostname or port field.
Recommendations
For Novell Open Enterprise Server 2 (OES2) version SP3, consider disabling the GetDriverSettings function in nipplib.dll as a temporary workaround until a patch is available. Restrict access to the iPrint client to minimize the risk of exploitation. Avoid using long hostnames or port fields in the affected function until the issue is resolved.
