Description
The issue allows remote attackers to cause a denial of service, resulting in an infinite loop, when the IKEv1 protocol dissector is used in Wireshark. This can be achieved through vectors involving a malformed IKE packet and many items in a tree, requiring user-assisted actions.
Recommendations
For Wireshark versions 1.4.0 through 1.4.8, consider disabling the IKEv1 protocol dissector until a patch is available.
For Wireshark versions 1.6.0 through 1.6.1, consider disabling the IKEv1 protocol dissector until a patch is available.
At the moment, there is no information about a newer version that contains a fix for this vulnerability.
