CVE-2011-3484
CVSS v2.0
4.3
Medium
| Vector | AV:N/AC:M/Au:N/C:N/I:N/A:P |
Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions
Wireshark versions 1.6.0 through 1.6.1
Description
The issue is related to the unxorFrame function in the OpenSafety dissector, which does not properly validate a certain frame size. This allows remote attackers to cause a denial of service, resulting in a loop and application crash, via a malformed packet.
Recommendations
For Wireshark versions 1.6.0 through 1.6.1, update to version 1.6.2 or later to resolve the issue. As a temporary workaround, consider disabling the OpenSafety dissector until a patch is available. Restrict access to untrusted networks to minimize the risk of exploitation.
