Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions
Cogent DataHub versions 7.1.1.63 and earlier
Description
The issue is related to multiple stack-based buffer overflows in the
DH OneSecondTick function. This can be exploited by remote attackers to cause a denial of service (crash) and possibly execute arbitrary code. The exploitation can occur via long commands, including domain, report domain, register datahub, or slave commands.Recommendations
For Cogent DataHub versions 7.1.1.63 and earlier, consider disabling the
DH OneSecondTick function as a temporary workaround until a patch is available. Restrict access to the commands domain, report domain, register datahub, and slave to minimize the risk of exploitation. At the moment, there is no information about a newer version that contains a fix for this issue.Exploit
