CVE-2011-4096

CVSS v2.0

5.0

Medium

VectorAV:N/AC:L/Au:N/C:N/I:N/A:P
Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions Squid versions prior to 3.1.16
Description The issue is related to the idnsGrokReply function, which does not properly free memory. This allows remote attackers to cause a denial of service by sending a DNS reply containing a CNAME record that references another CNAME record with an empty A record.
Recommendations For versions prior to 3.1.16, update to version 3.1.16 or later to resolve the issue. As a temporary workaround, consider restricting access to the DNS service to minimize the risk of exploitation.
