Description
The issue allows remote attackers to cause a denial of service, resulting in a system crash, by sending an ICMP Echo Reply packet with a specific value in the Identifier field.
Recommendations
For IBM AIX versions 5.3, 6.1, and 7.1, update to a version that includes the fix for this issue.
For VIOS versions 2.1.x and 2.2.x, update to a version that includes the fix for this issue.
As a temporary workaround, consider restricting ICMP Echo Reply packets to minimize the risk of exploitation.
