Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions
Open Journal Systems versions prior to 2.3.7
Description
The issue allows remote attackers and remote authenticated users to inject arbitrary web script or HTML. This can be achieved via the
editor or callback parameters to "lib/pkp/lib/tinymce/jscripts/tiny mce/plugins/ibrowser/ibrowser.php" in the iBrowser plugin, the authors[][url] parameter to "index.php", or the Bio Statement or Abstract of Submission fields to the stripUnsafeHtml function in "lib/pkp/classes/core/String.inc.php".Recommendations
For versions prior to 2.3.7, update to version 2.3.7 or later to resolve the issue. As a temporary workaround, consider restricting access to the iBrowser plugin and limiting user input in the Bio Statement and Abstract of Submission fields until the update is applied. Avoid using the
editor and callback parameters to "lib/pkp/lib/tinymce/jscripts/tiny mce/plugins/ibrowser/ibrowser.php" and the authors[][url] parameter to "index.php" until the issue is resolved.Exploit
