CVE-2012-6539

CVSS v2.0

1.9

Low

VectorAV:L/AC:M/Au:N/C:P/I:N/A:N
Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions Linux kernel versions prior to 3.6
Description The issue exists due to the lack of initialization of certain structures in the dev ifconf function in net/socket.c of the Linux kernel. This allows local users to obtain sensitive information from kernel stack memory using a specially crafted application.
Recommendations For Linux kernel versions prior to 3.6, update to version 3.6 or later to resolve the issue. As a temporary workaround, consider restricting access to the dev ifconf function until a patch is available.
