CVSS v2.0

7.5

High

VectorAV:N/AC:L/Au:N/C:P/I:P/A:P
Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions MiniMagick Gem version 1.3.1
Description The issue allows remote attackers to execute arbitrary commands via shell metacharacters in a URL. This is possible due to a flaw in the lib/mini magick.rb file of the MiniMagick Gem for Ruby.
Recommendations For MiniMagick Gem version 1.3.1, consider avoiding the use of URLs that may contain shell metacharacters until a patch is available. As a temporary workaround, restrict the input allowed for URLs to prevent the inclusion of shell metacharacters. At the moment, there is no information about a newer version that contains a fix for this vulnerability.
