CVE-2013-4073

CVSS v2.0

6.8

Medium

VectorAV:N/AC:M/Au:N/C:P/I:P/A:P
Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions Ruby versions 1.8 before 1.8.7-p374 Ruby versions 1.9 before 1.9.3-p448 Ruby versions 2.0 before 2.0.0-p247
Description The issue allows man-in-the-middle attackers to spoof arbitrary SSL servers via a crafted certificate issued by a legitimate Certification Authority. This occurs because the OpenSSL::SSL.verify certificate identity function does not properly handle a '0' character in a domain name in the Subject Alternative Name field of an X.509 certificate.
Recommendations For Ruby 1.8, update to version 1.8.7-p374 or later. For Ruby 1.9, update to version 1.9.3-p448 or later. For Ruby 2.0, update to version 2.0.0-p247 or later.
