9.3
High
| Vector | AV:N/AC:M/Au:N/C:C/I:C/A:C |
Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions
Internet Explorer versions 9 through 10
Description
The issue is related to a use-after-free error when working with the CMarkup object, allowing remote attackers to execute arbitrary code via specially crafted JavaScript code, CMarkup, and the onpropertychange attribute of a script element. This has been exploited in the wild. The vulnerability could corrupt memory, enabling an attacker to execute arbitrary code in the context of the current user.
Recommendations
For Internet Explorer versions 9 and 10, update to a newer version to mitigate the risk.
As a temporary workaround, consider restricting access to crafted JavaScript code and the onpropertychange attribute of a script element until a patch is available.
Avoid using the CMarkup object in affected versions until the issue is resolved.
