CVE-2014-1723

CVSS v2.0

7.5

High

VectorAV:N/AC:L/Au:N/C:P/I:P/A:P
Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions Google Chrome versions prior to 34.0.1847.116
Description The issue is related to the improper handling of bidirectional Internationalized Resource Identifiers (IRIs) in the UnescapeURLWithOffsetsImpl function. This makes it easier for remote attackers to spoof URLs via crafted use of right-to-left (RTL) Unicode text. The function UnescapeURLWithOffsetsImpl in net/base/escape.cc is specifically affected.
Recommendations For Google Chrome versions prior to 34.0.1847.116, update to version 34.0.1847.116 or later to resolve the issue. As a temporary workaround, consider restricting the use of the UnescapeURLWithOffsetsImpl function until a patch is applied. Avoid using the function with crafted right-to-left Unicode text to minimize the risk of exploitation.
