CVE-2014-1719
CVSS v2.0
7.5
High
| Vector | AV:N/AC:L/Au:N/C:P/I:P/A:P |
Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions
Google Chrome versions prior to 34.0.1847.116
Description
The issue is related to a use-after-free error in the WebSharedWorkerStub::OnTerminateWorkerContext function in the Web Workers implementation. This error can be exploited by remote attackers to cause a denial of service, resulting in heap memory corruption, or possibly have other unspecified impacts on the system. The exploitation occurs through vectors that trigger a SharedWorker termination during script loading.
Recommendations
For Google Chrome versions prior to 34.0.1847.116, update to version 34.0.1847.116 or later to resolve the issue. As a temporary workaround, consider disabling the Web Workers feature until a patch is available. Restrict access to the
WebSharedWorkerStub::OnTerminateWorkerContext function to minimize the risk of exploitation. Avoid using the SharedWorker feature during script loading until the issue is resolved.Fix
