CVSS v2.0
6.8
Medium
| Vector | AV:N/AC:M/Au:N/C:P/I:P/A:P |
Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions
Mozilla Thunderbird versions prior to 24.4
Mozilla Firefox versions prior to 28.0
Mozilla Firefox ESR versions prior to 24.4
SeaMonkey versions prior to 2.25
Description
The issue is related to errors in the implementation of the
Mozilla::WaveReader::DecodeAudioData function. This allows remote attackers to obtain sensitive information from process heap memory, cause a denial of service (out-of-bounds read and application crash), or possibly have unspecified other impact via a crafted WAV file.Recommendations
For Mozilla Thunderbird versions prior to 24.4, update to version 24.4 or later.
For Mozilla Firefox versions prior to 28.0, update to version 28.0 or later.
For Mozilla Firefox ESR versions prior to 24.4, update to version 24.4 or later.
For SeaMonkey versions prior to 2.25, update to version 2.25 or later.
As a temporary workaround, consider avoiding the use of specially crafted WAV files until a patch is available.
