CVE-2014-1549

CVSS v2.0

9.3

High

VectorAV:N/AC:M/Au:N/C:C/I:C/A:C
Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions Mozilla Firefox versions prior to 31.0 Thunderbird versions prior to 31.0
Description The issue arises from the mozilla::dom::AudioBufferSourceNodeEngine::CopyFromInputBuffer function not properly allocating Web Audio buffer memory. This allows remote attackers to execute arbitrary code or cause a denial of service, such as a buffer overflow and application crash, via crafted audio content that is improperly handled during playback buffering.
Recommendations For Mozilla Firefox versions prior to 31.0, update to version 31.0 or later to resolve the issue. For Thunderbird versions prior to 31.0, update to version 31.0 or later to resolve the issue. As a temporary workaround, consider avoiding the use of crafted audio content that could trigger the buffer overflow until a patch is applied.
