Description The issue allows an attacker to access files on the user's local file system or the content of web domains where the user is currently authenticated. To exploit this, a user must visit specially crafted web content designed to invoke MSXML through Internet Explorer. This can lead to bypassing the Same Origin Policy.
Recommendations For Microsoft XML Core Services version 3.0, update to a newer version to mitigate the risk. For Microsoft Windows XP SP2 and SP3, Windows Server 2003 SP2, Windows Vista SP2, Windows Server 2008 SP2 and R2 SP1, Windows 7 SP1, Windows 8, Windows 8.1, Windows Server 2012 Gold and R2, and Windows RT Gold and 8.1, consider disabling the XMLHTTP ActiveX control in Internet Explorer until a patch is available.
