CVE-2014-6426

CVSS v2.0

5.0

Medium

VectorAV:N/AC:L/Au:N/C:N/I:N/A:P
Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions Wireshark versions 1.12.x through 1.12.0
Description The issue exists in the dissect hip tlv function due to improper handling of a NULL tree, allowing remote attackers to cause a denial of service (infinite loop) via a crafted packet. This can be exploited by sending a specially formed packet.
Recommendations For Wireshark versions 1.12.x through 1.12.0, update to version 1.12.1 or later to resolve the issue. As a temporary workaround, consider disabling the dissect hip tlv function in the HIP dissector until a patch is available.
