Description
The issue allows remote attackers to cause a denial of service, resulting in a NULL pointer dereference and IKE daemon crash, via a crafted ID DER ASN1 DN ID payload. Multiple vulnerabilities in the strongSwan package can lead to breaches of confidentiality and integrity of protected information, and can be exploited remotely.
Recommendations
For versions prior to 5.1.2, update to version 5.1.2 or later.
For versions prior to 5.1.3, update to version 5.1.3 or later.
As a temporary workaround, consider restricting access to the IKE daemon to minimize the risk of exploitation.
