Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions
Trane ComfortLink II firmware version 2.0.2
Description
The issue is caused by a buffer overflow in the memory due to an overly long REG request. This can allow a remote attacker to execute arbitrary code. The vulnerability exists in the DSS service of the Trane ComfortLink II device, where an attacker can send a long request to overflow a fixed-size stack buffer.
Recommendations
For Trane ComfortLink II firmware version 2.0.2, consider restricting access to the DSS service to minimize the risk of exploitation until a patch is available. As a temporary workaround, avoid using long REG requests in the affected API endpoint. At the moment, there is no information about a newer version that contains a fix for this vulnerability.
