Description
The Kerberos Key Distribution Center (KDC) in Microsoft Windows contains a privilege escalation issue due to errors in privilege management. This allows a remote attacker to elevate their privileges by forging a signature in a ticket. The vulnerability was exploited in the wild in November 2014. An attacker could use this to elevate an unprivileged domain user account to a domain administrator account, impersonate any user on the domain, including domain administrators, and join any group. By impersonating the domain administrator, the attacker could install programs, view, change or delete data, or create new accounts on any domain-joined system.

For Microsoft Windows Server 2003 SP2, update to a newer version to mitigate the risk.

For Microsoft Windows Server 2008 SP2 and R2 SP1, update to a newer version to mitigate the risk.
For Microsoft Windows 7 SP1, update to a newer version to mitigate the risk.

As a temporary workaround, consider restricting access to the Kerberos KDC service to minimize the risk of exploitation.
