CVE-2011-3588

CVSS v2.0

5.7

Medium

VectorAV:A/AC:M/Au:N/C:C/I:N/A:N
Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions kexec-tools versions 1.x before 1.102pre-154 kexec-tools versions 2.x before 2.0.0-209
Description The SSH configuration in the Red Hat mkdumprd script for kexec-tools disables the StrictHostKeyChecking option. This allows man-in-the-middle attackers to spoof kdump servers and obtain sensitive core information by using an arbitrary SSH key.
Recommendations For kexec-tools versions 1.x before 1.102pre-154, update to version 1.102pre-154 or later to enable the StrictHostKeyChecking option. For kexec-tools versions 2.x before 2.0.0-209, update to version 2.0.0-209 or later to enable the StrictHostKeyChecking option. As a temporary workaround, consider enabling the StrictHostKeyChecking option manually in the SSH configuration until a patch is available.
