CVE-2012-5583
CVSS v2.0
5.8
Medium
| Vector | AV:N/AC:M/Au:N/C:P/I:P/A:N |
Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions
phpCAS versions prior to 1.3.2
Description
The issue arises from the failure to verify that the server hostname matches a domain name in the subject's Common Name (CN) or subjectAltName field of the X.509 certificate. This allows man-in-the-middle attackers to spoof SSL servers via an arbitrary valid certificate.
Recommendations
For versions prior to 1.3.2, update to version 1.3.2 or later to resolve the issue. As a temporary workaround, consider implementing additional certificate validation checks to ensure the server hostname matches the domain name in the certificate.
