CVE-2012-6429

CVSS v2.0

10

High

VectorAV:N/AC:L/Au:N/C:C/I:C/A:C
Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions Samsung Kies versions prior to 2.5.1.12123 2 7
Description The issue is related to a buffer overflow in the PrepareSync method within the SyncService.dll ActiveX control. This allows remote attackers to execute arbitrary code by providing a long string to the password argument.
Recommendations For versions prior to 2.5.1.12123 2 7, update to version 2.5.1.12123 2 7 or later to resolve the issue. As a temporary workaround, consider restricting access to the SyncService.dll ActiveX control to minimize the risk of exploitation. Avoid using long strings for the password argument in the affected ActiveX control until the issue is resolved.
