| Vector | AV:N/AC:L/Au:N/C:P/I:P/A:P |
Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions
Advantech WebAccess versions prior to 7.2
Description
The issue allows remote attackers to execute specific programs from arbitrary pathnames via a crafted argument. This can be demonstrated by using a UNC share pathname to execute (1) setup.exe, (2) bwvbprt.exe, and (3) bwvbprtl.exe programs.
Recommendations
For Advantech WebAccess versions prior to 7.2, update to version 7.2 or later to resolve the issue. As a temporary workaround, consider restricting access to the CreateProcess method in the BWOCXRUN.BwocxrunCtrl.1 ActiveX control to minimize the risk of exploitation.
