Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions
Google Chrome versions prior to 33.0.1750.149
Description
The issue is related to a use-after-free vulnerability in the modules/speech/SpeechSynthesis.cpp component of Blink, used in Google Chrome. This vulnerability can be exploited by remote attackers to cause a denial of service or possibly have other unspecified impacts. The exploitation is achieved by leveraging improper handling of a certain utterance data structure.
Recommendations
For versions prior to 33.0.1750.149, update to version 33.0.1750.149 or later to resolve the issue. As a temporary workaround, consider disabling the speech synthesis functionality until a patch is available. Restrict access to the modules/speech/SpeechSynthesis.cpp component to minimize the risk of exploitation.
