CVE-2014-3186

CVSS v2.0

6.9

Medium

VectorAV:L/AC:M/Au:N/C:C/I:C/A:C
Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions Linux kernel versions through 3.16.3
Description The issue allows physically proximate attackers to cause a denial of service or possibly execute arbitrary code via a crafted device that sends a large report, exploiting a buffer overflow in the picolcd raw event function in the PicoLCD HID device driver. This is particularly relevant in Android on Nexus 7 devices.
Recommendations For Linux kernel versions through 3.16.3, update to a version later than 3.16.3 to resolve the issue. As a temporary workaround, consider restricting access to the PicoLCD HID device driver to minimize the risk of exploitation.
