CVE-2014-7188

CVSS v2.0

8.3

High

VectorAV:A/AC:L/Au:N/C:C/I:C/A:C
Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions Xen versions 4.1 through 4.4.x
Description The issue is related to the hvm msr read intercept function in the arch/x86/hvm/hvm.c file, which improperly handles the MSR range for x2APIC emulation. This allows local HVM guests to cause a denial of service, resulting in a host crash, or to read data from the hypervisor or other guests.
Recommendations For Xen versions 4.1 through 4.4.x, consider restricting access to the hvm msr read intercept function as a temporary workaround until a patch is available.
