CVE-2014-9680

CVSS v3.1

3.3

Low

VectorAV:L/AC:L/PR:L/UI:N/S:U/C:L/I:N/A:N
Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions sudo versions prior to 1.8.12
Description The issue allows local users to open arbitrary files for read access by running a program within an sudo session. This can be demonstrated by interfering with terminal output, discarding kernel-log messages, or repositioning tape drives, but it does not allow viewing file contents.
Recommendations For versions prior to 1.8.12, update to version 1.8.12 or later to resolve the issue. As a temporary workaround, consider restricting the use of sudo sessions to minimize the risk of exploitation.
