CVSS v2.0
4.0
Medium
| Vector | AV:N/AC:L/Au:S/C:N/I:N/A:P |
Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions
OpenAFS versions prior to 1.6.13
Description
The issue is caused by a buffer overflow in the OpenAFS file system. It may allow a remote attacker to cause a denial of service by using a specially crafted regular expression in the VL ListAttributesN2 RPC call. This can lead to an out-of-bounds read and crash.
Recommendations
For versions prior to 1.6.13, update to version 1.6.13 or later to resolve the issue. As a temporary workaround, consider restricting access to the VL ListAttributesN2 RPC call to minimize the risk of exploitation.
