CVE-2015-3858

CVSS v2.0

9.3

High

VectorAV:N/AC:M/Au:N/C:C/I:C/A:C
Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions Android versions prior to 5.1.1 LMY48M
Description The issue is related to the checkDestination function in the Android operating system, which has inadequate access control to certain features. This allows a remote attacker to bypass the user confirmation procedure by sending a short SMS message using a specially crafted application. The problem lies in the use of an obsolete permission name for an authorization check in the SMSDispatcher.java file.
Recommendations For Android versions prior to 5.1.1 LMY48M, update to version 5.1.1 LMY48M or later to resolve the issue. As a temporary workaround, consider restricting the use of the checkDestination function until a patch is available. Avoid using specially crafted applications that can exploit this issue.
