CVE-2015-7196

CVSS v2.0

6.8

Medium

VectorAV:N/AC:M/Au:N/C:P/I:P/A:P
Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions Mozilla Firefox versions prior to 42.0 Firefox ESR versions prior to 38.4
Description The issue is related to errors in the code when a Java plugin is enabled, allowing remote attackers to cause a denial of service or possibly execute arbitrary code via a crafted Java applet that deallocates an in-use JavaScript wrapper. The Java plugin can deallocate a JavaScript wrapper when it is still in use, leading to a JavaScript garbage collection crash, which is potentially exploitable.
Recommendations For Mozilla Firefox versions prior to 42.0, update to version 42.0 or later to resolve the issue. For Firefox ESR versions prior to 38.4, update to version 38.4 or later to resolve the issue. As a temporary workaround, consider disabling the Java plugin until a patch is available.
