Description
The issue is related to the LDAPLoginModule implementation in the Java Authentication and Authorization Service (JAAS) in Apache ActiveMQ, which allows wildcard operators in usernames. This allows remote attackers to obtain credentials via a brute force attack. The vulnerability is associated with errors in handling registration data, which can be exploited by a remote attacker to gain credentials through brute force.
Recommendations
For Apache ActiveMQ versions 5.x through 5.10.0, update to version 5.10.1 or later to resolve the issue.
As a temporary workaround, consider restricting access to the LDAPLoginModule implementation until a patch is available.
